Kick Music A/S is one of Denmark's biggest independent record labels. 'Independent' means it's 100% Danish owned and 100% self-determinative.Kick Music A/S has existed since 1990 and released more than 250 album, mostly Danish artists, but also several non-Danish artists found their way to our label through local labels of countries like USA, Ireland, Sweden, Finland, South Africa and Australia. At a regular we also import releases from foreign artists we see a potential here in Denmark and/or just names we are really passionate about working with.
"Passion" is an important keyword at Kick Music. Passion should be involved in all music we work with, we don't see music as 'products' and with that approach, we try to spread the music to as many as possible, inside and outside Denmark!
Kick Music A/S was founded by Denmark's biggest music supplyer through many years Poul Hansen and Michael Quvang (today as then the CEO of the company).
Already in 1992 Kick Music had established itself as an important player in the Danish music business with releases by Boghandle, Gerfast and Les Enfants and in spring of 1993 Kick received the first Grammy nomination for Boghandle's "Step On It" album.
In 1998 Kick Music A/S moved from Ballerup to downtown Copenhagen to be closer the music action in our nation's capitol. Along with the change of address Kick Music A/S also re-adjusted the goals of the company:
To work towards releases with more established Danish names.
To focus more on establishing atists on the Danish marked.
To establish a solid selection of export partners for Kick Music's releases.
To increase the efforts in the Business-To-Business area.
Through hard and focused work all the goals have been achieved. Accomplishments:
Today Kick Music A/S releases albums with well-established Danish names like Ida Corr, Michael Falch, Ester Brohus, Nikolej & Piloterne, Mek Pek, Laura Illeborg & Mike Tramp.
Kick Music A/S has developed several names especially for foreign export fx. Grammy Awardwinners Superfuzz (1999), Powersolo, Defectors and Super Galore.
Today Kick Music A/S is represented at export markeds in Germany, Schwitzerland, Austrai, Italy, Sweden, Spain, USA, England and Asia..
Since 1998 Kick Music had several Business-To-Business jobs with firms outside the music industry who needed music for different occasions.
We are of course still working to increase each area and look for new ways to spread the music to the people.
